Big Bird

Some months ago there was a big storm hit in Tanzania where a little pelican was abandoned by his flock.

This pelican called Big Bird couldn't even feed himself when he was found. When this happened, the staff at Greystoke Mahale Park decided to teach him how to fly, and so he did. He would always run up and down flapping his arms and simulating a flight for him. He says Big Bird would look curiously how he did that until the day he did it by himself. In addition him and park workers teached him life skills to be able to survive.

While he was learning, his staff put him a small GoPro camera in his beak so the animal could record by himself his first flight, and so he did.

When things like storms happen, it's normal that sad thing like this happen. This pelican was very lucky to be found by these men who decided to take care of him and teach him how to fly because he succeeded. In my opinion it's incredible how a human being shows a bird how to fly, when we don't even know how to fly because basically we can't fly. If I think about it then I arrive to the conclusion that we do teach dogs and horses... So maybe teaching a bird is not that weird, but I honestly think it's amazing what these people did with Big Bird.
