Right now is having place the famous Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California. It's one of the most good known festivals in the United States and a lot of celebrities attend to the festival every year.
Coachella was founded by Paul Tollett in 1999, even though the festival's origins trace back to a concert that Pearl Jam performed at the Empire Polo Club in 1993. At first, in 1999, the festival lasted two days, and the following year there wasn't any festival. In 2001 the festival only lasted one day and again, in 2002 it lasted two days. In 2007 another day was added and in 2012 another weekend. So nowadays, Coachella lasts two weekends.
During these days people can camp on the grounds and that's one of the reasons a lot of people attends to this huge festival. In 2010, around 75,000 people came each day. Only last year, the festival two weekends grossed $67 million, which made it the highest-grossing festival ever. Obviously, the tickets aren't that cheap so that's why they gross a lot: a general pass costs around $375 and the VIP pass $799. But a lot of famous artists attend it during these days like Amy Winehouse, Snoop Dogg, Paul McCartney, Madonna, The Black Keys, Jay-Z and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Practically all young celebrities attend to this festival, like Harry Styles, Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron, Selena Gomez, Cara Delevigne, Lindsay Lohan, Katy Perry, Kendall Jenner, Paris Hilton... They all wear an indio style, which I personally think is so cool.
This year, Coachella started last weekend from April 11th to 13th and this is the last weekend, and it ends tomorrow.
I really hope one day I can attend Coachella personally, not Tomorrowland or something like that but Coachella. It's amazing and while these days everyone is posting pictures on the Internet I'm here stuck in this country.
